Asylum seekers arriving at the Roxham Road crossing in Quebec suddenly found they were not longer able to freely walk across the border and be entitled to free housing, food, and whatever else they need.

The Quebec government has repeatedly called for the federal government to close the Roxham Road crossing, saying it doesn’t have the capacity to accept more migrants.

While the Roxham Road crossing was once little more than an impromptu dirt path accessible only by a lengthy cab ride, the site now has more dedicated infrastructure than even some of Canada’s legitimate border crossings.
