At least two people have been killed and seven others hurt as a result of a faulty airbag inflator, according to NHTSA.

The automaker says an inflator explosion “may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.”

These airbag inflators degrade over time, so the older your car is, the more likely it is that the airbag inflator will fail, the NHTSA said.
