Exactly one year after my first question at Queen’s Park, on Aug. 26, 2023, the long-awaited Provincial Climate Change Impact Assessment (PCCIA) was quietly released by the government.
Hon. Isa Andaha, made the appeal on Saturday in Akwanga, while speaking during Scoping Workshop for the Environmental Impact Assessment for the Dualization of Akwanga-Jos- Bauchi and Gombe road project.
Putting this into perspective is ExxonMobil Corporation’s Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for its fifth development at the Uaru-Mako field in the Stabroek Block.
“The Initial Project Description is anticipated to be submitted to the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada in late 2023,” a provincial document obtained by Global News through freedom of information laws explains.

The main purpose of a regional assessment, said the governments, is to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of future impact assessments of projects that are subject to the Impact Assessment Act.
“The planning and implementation are multi-step processes, including Environmental Impact Assessment, and are subject to future development works, which could be undertaken by separate consortia,” said the spokesperson.
The report – called the Provincial Climate Change Impact Assessment – projects a soaring number of days with extreme heat across Ontario, as well as increases in flooding and more frequent wildfires.
