As I’ve written about the California wildfires, forest management on public land has been lacking for decades.
But after increasingly destructive cycles of wildfires linked in part to drought, forest management and climate change, the insurance market in California is unstable.

California led much of the nation away from forest management practices during the 1980s and 1990s.
