David Albornoz was honored as the National Drowning Prevention Association’s first “Water Safety Champion” for his work preventing drownings in St. Paul, especially among children of color.
Furthermore, 60 per cent of these drownings occurred in a swimming pool.

In that same period, 23 coastal drownings have been recorded, seven of which occurred in a devastating six-day period between Wednesday February 8 and Monday February 13.
