CHICAGO — Emmett Till’s relative is suing to try getting justice for the Mississippi sheriff to execute a 1955 warrant for a white woman involved in the kidnapping that led to the brutal lynching of a black teenager.
“Mom and Dad didn’t bring us to the church to see it, but Dad made a scrapbook out of the newspapers and Jet magazine,” said Cleven Wardlow Jr., the church’s pastor, who was 11 years old at the time of Till’s funeral.
The tour with Thomas included other stops such as Mamie and Emmett Till’s and Louis Armstrong’s former homes.
