As one of Scotland's most celebrated contemporary poets, he recently appeared in the Saltire Society's '40 Under 40' list of outstanding Scottish creative talent.

During lockdown, Olivia amassed 500 volunteering hours towards her Saltire award when she looked after her neighbour’s dog for around 10 hours each day.

In 1976 he took a job as architect for the restoration of Mains Castle, East Kilbride, for which he and the owner won two Saltire Awards as the best restoration completed in 1986.
