After withdrawing a fuel subsidy in June, Labour Minister Chris Ngige suggested that Tinubu's incoming administration provide public sector workers salary raises this week.

Ngige said this in a statement issued by Eugene Oyinye, Senior Information Officer of the ministry at the weekend, in Abuja.
Responding to a question on why it is always difficult for the government to nip public sector workers’ crisis in the bud before it snowballs into a strike, Ngige said his ministry has been able to conciliate about 4000 labour disputes successfully.
Speaking with journalists on Wednesday in his country home in Alor, Anambra State, Ngige described the four major contenders as his friends.
