The NMC has also stated that the number of foreign nationals for electives/ observership in UG category in a given academic year should not exceed 5 per cent of sanctioned annual intake of that medical college.
The NMC said this in a reply to the Associations of Emergency Physicians of India (AEPI) over their grievance regarding the exclusion of emergency medicine speciality as a requirement for setting up new medical colleges.
“The staffing model for Lot 3 (Female Residential Service) must include appropriate levels of registered nursing staff (Level 1 NMC registration) to deliver clinical aspects of the service provision.”
They said the regulation barring doctors from attending conferences sponsored by pharma companies warrants reconsideration and also demanded that associations and organisations should be exempted from the purview of NMC guidelines.
