He explained that, “NEITI findings and recommendations are leading reforms in the oil, gas and mining industries” and for the Initiative to deliver more optimal results to the nation, he called for stronger collaboration and synergy with the EFCC.
In the 2019 audited reports by the Auditor General of the Federation and Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), revealed that 146 million barrels of crude oil was missing.
Mr Gaza Gbefi, House Committee Chairman on Solid Minerals urged NEITI to also consider releasing a report to determine actual amount of solid minerals extracted and exported.

NEITI suggested that the Federal Government explore methods to attract investment in the solid minerals sector, such as conducting a risk assessment and establishing a special purpose vehicle to minimise risks and promote investments.
SERAP also argues, “The allegations of corruption documented by NEITI undermine economic development of the country, trap the majority of Nigerians in poverty and deprive them of opportunities.”

The panel of discussants comprised former Executive Secretary, NEITI, Mr. Waziri Adio; Former Editor, OPEC News, Ms. Angela Agoawike and Azu Ishiekwene editor in chief of Leadership who was the moderator of the session.
We will be seeking the advice of the minister of Finance in framing the clauses and identify the sources for funding for NEITI so that we don’t continue to depend on the monthly releases that are difficult to find.”
