Researcher and environmentalist, Mr Muntaka Chasant, has urged the government to focus more on protecting existing forests which are crucial to mitigating climate change.

This led to a public enquiry by Parliament which ended nowhere because the prominent members of the Minority, including Alhaji Mubarak Muntaka denied.
