Anti-aircraft fire downed a drone late on Thursday over the southern Russian city of Kursk, near the Ukrainian border, the regional governor said.
Aug. 12, 2000 — The submarine Kursk sinks in the Barents Sea with 118 people aboard, setting off the first widespread criticism of Putin, who stayed on vacation early in the crisis and waited five days before accepting Western offers of help.
Earlier, Moscow had accused Ukraine of using drones to target a nuclear power plant in the Russian border region of Kursk, hitting an administrative building and a nuclear waste depot.
"In Kursk, a Ukrainian drone attacked an administrative building in the central district," governor Roman Starovoyt said on Telegram.
Investigators say that the missile originated in a Russian military brigade based in Kursk.
Kursk was the last big tank-on-tank battle (little infantry or air support).

The leader of a third region of Russia, Kursk Gov. Roman Starovoit, said a drone crashed to the ground outside an oil depot and near water reservoirs in the local capital, causing no casualties or damage.
Though there hasn't been a true tank engagement like that seen at the Battle of Kursk, the losses are certainly as great.
