MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte’s office is seeking a budget of P2,374,019,000 for its second year, based on the proposed 2024 National Expenditure Program (NEP) submitted by the budget agency to Congress.
Rights groups and various organizations alleged that thousands of Filipinos were killed in Duterte’s war against illegal drugs, which was carried out under former PNP chief now Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
The charges came in 2017 a few months after she launched a senate investigation into Duterte’s fierce crackdown on illicit drugs, during which thousands of users and dealers were killed, many by police or in mysterious circumstances.
“The nature of governmental power today is not anything so much different from the days of the last regime,” Santos said, referring to Duterte’s administration.
