A spokesperson for British Columbia's Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions said the province will be reviewing the CCSA guidelines and "have more to say in the weeks ahead."
The actual guidelines, devised by the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA), called for a dramatic reduction in alcohol consumption.
The latest recommendations from the Ministry, dating from 2011 and taking into account the advice issued that year by the CCSA, limit intake to a maximum of 15 standard drinks per week for men and 10 for women.
