Liberal figures from Opposition Leader Peter Dutton to former federal treasurer Joe Hockey and former NSW treasurer Matt Kean, have all defended Berejiklian, saying she is not corrupt, and questioning the integrity of the watchdog itself.
Speaking at the Independent Commission Against Corruption's (ICAC) probe Operation Keppel in October 2020, Ms Berejiklian revealed she had been in a 'close personal relationship' with the former Wagga Wagga MP since 2015.
The matters which led to are now well known: Berejiklian had an undisclosed relationship with former Wagga MP Daryl Maguire, who has was found to have used his position as an MP to run a private business assisting property developers.
