Forestry England operates the Wych Lodge site on Staple Hill in Staple Fitzpaine, on the north-eastern edge of the Blackdown Hills area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB).

It is part of a programme to plant 25,000 British Native Hardwoods in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), of which nearly 21,000 trees in 35 different sites have been planted since the scheme started in 2007.
